ASEA YACHT DESIGN PTY LTD (AYD), currently now trading as 'ASEA NAVAL ARCHITECTS' (ANA) as of March 2017, was originally established in 1998 under the business name of 'Naval Architects Australia' and in March 2003 AYD the company was formed.

AYD is a professional naval architecture company located on the Gold Coast Australia specialising in small craft design and survey.

We offer a wide scope of naval architecture, design and survey services to boat manufacturers, private customers and fellow architects, ranging from the initial concept and preliminary design stages of general arrangement layouts, weight study, hull lines, stability, structure and powering predictions, to the detailed design stage of construction, classification, and survey drawings, and through to the production and certification stages 

Situated on the Gold Coast Australia which is host to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and is one of Australia’s main boating cities, AYD reach of clientele extends beyond its home waters to neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, P.R China, Taiwan, and Sth Korea and even further abroad into Europe and USA.

AYD's sole director Tim Withrington, a graduate from the ‘Australian Maritime College’ with a honours engineering degree in naval architecture, heads up the company’s everyday design and engineering services and operations. Tim is also a trade certified boat builder with over twenty years experience in FRP composite and aluminium construction, a AMSA Accredited Marine Surveyor, a IMCI Ce Inspector and NMMA Inspector and a member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (MRINA).

AYD is fully equipped with up-to-date computer hardware and software, capable to handle any size project. In the near future AYD is to implement a quality assurance management system in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 for Ship Design, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Services.
